Leadership & Engagement
As Vice President, Marketing & Events, Elizabeth leads the Chamber’s strategic marketing communications efforts. She ensures that all outreach aligns with and supports the organization’s strategic direction as it fights to make San Diego the most business-friendly region in California.
Elizabeth and her team are responsible for developing strategy and tactics to create interest, demand, and recognition for the Chamber through media relations; web, social, and print communications; advertising; strategic relationships; direct and online marketing; and more than 60 events a year.
In late 2015, Elizabeth and her team launched the Chamber’s redesigned, mobile-friendly and user-focused website. Recently, they introduced a new grassroots, social advocacy tool that enables the Chamber to quickly mobilize its members so they can easily contact their local, state, and federal elected officials in support of business-friendly legislation and related topics.
Previously, Elizabeth was Senior Director of Marketing & Communications at Rady Children’s Hospital. There, she oversaw a rebranding initiative; media relations; web, video and social media; internal communications; and strategic communications planning for the hospital and its foundation.
Prior to Rady Children’s, Elizabeth worked at the County of San Diego in media and public relations and internal communications. She was an award-winning journalist at The San Diego Union-Tribune. An essay she wrote for The New York Times was developed into a podcast by the Times and WBUR Boston in 2016.
Elizabeth is a 2013 graduate of Lead San Diego’s Impact program. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s degree in journalism and public affairs from American University in Washington, D.C.
Elizabeth serves on the Board of Directors for the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, the Board of Library Commissions for the City of San Diego, and volunteers at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Bankers Hill. She lives in Del Cerro with her husband, daughter, and twin sons.
