About The Catalyst Advisory Circle
The group will consist of up to 18 participants with experience in various industries willing to share their knowledge and expertise. All Catalyst Advisory Circle group participants work together as each other’s “Board of Directors” to help solve problems, educate, and elevate on another’s businesses. The Catalyst Advisory Circle is driven by the idea that the sum of the parts is greater than the whole.
The ideal Catalyst Advisory Circle participant is a business owner or professional looking to work on their goals and professional development in a collaborative environment. Participants will be selected based on experience, desire for self-improvement, and their passion for contributing fully in a group setting. To qualify, candidates need at least 3 years of professional experience, which may include entrepreneurship and military service.

*Selected participants are only permitted to miss one class per quarter.
Chamber membership at the Bronze level or higher is required for participation.
The Catalyst Advisory Circle will meet from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Chamber offices in Downtown San Diego every second and fourth Tuesday, except for December when the group will only meet on the second Tuesday due to the holiday.
Participants must be able to attend two monthly meetings downtown.

CEO, RJ Patterson Group
Robert Patterson provides comprehensive financial planning advice. He focuses on managing the investment needs of high-net-worth clients, businesses, and other selected individuals.
Mr. Patterson develops customized retirement plans specifically designed to help clients manage their assets, meet their financial goals and enhance their financial potential. His broad financial planning knowledge and experience includes retirement and estate planning, 401(k)s, stock options, equities, fixed income funds, insurance services, and mutual funds.
Mr. Patterson graduated with honors from San Diego State University with a degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences. He received his certification as a chartered, retirement planning counselor from the College for Financial Planning.
Mr. Patterson has extensive experience in business coaching and personal development programs. He enjoys mentoring professionals to acheive their unique goals. He is also a committed supporter of his community and an active member of the San Diego Nice Guys, a non-profit charitable organization who dedicate their time and money to helping families, schools, and foundations in and around the San Diego area. He currently lives in San Diego with his wife, Audrey, and their two children, Rachel and Zachary.
COACH Rich Phillips
Rich’s entire career has focused on improving the quality of life of everyone around him. From his days as a trainer of killer whales for Sea World, Inc. and through his 20 plus years of management in banking, finance, and real estate, he has acquired the discipline, leadership and focus required to successfully compete in business. This is evident in Rich’s coaching style.
Rich works with your core challenges, helps you develop an action plan, and holds you accountable to achieve substantial results! Key values include individual and customer focus, innovation, adaptability, collaboration, and straight forward communication. Key motivation is to combine the lessons learned from the 14,000 pound killer whales, the most feared predator in the ocean, with the ownership/management techniques needed to motivate the individual.
Rich was the youngest head show trainer, the youngest trainer to perform the killer whale ride-jump and he earned the first ever title of Behaviorist at Sea World, Inc. His business skills have earned him numerous awards for his leadership and team building skills in various positions in both large and small companies. The diversity of Rich’s background is a valuable asset as he helps you overcome the challenges that you and your business face.
Rich will passionately guide you through the concept of intentionality and the importance of the individual while developing vision and translating that into goals and strategies to improve your business so that it gives you what you want from life.
