Businesses need a qualified workforce to thrive. The Education & Workforce Development Committee works in collaboration with employers, educators and job training programs to ensure local students receive an excellent education and relevant training to prepare them for the workforce and/or college.

The trip to Sacramento is critically important in sharing the needs of San Diego’s binational business community with elected officials and agencies at the state level. The policy areas and issues we will be addressing on the trip include: regulatory & tax reform, CEQA reform, predictive scheduling, infrastructure funding, tourism, transportation and transit, funding, workforce training, healthcare reimbursement rates, water issues, affordable housing, and improving international trade and commerce.

With major partners from the defense industry, non-profits specializing in veteran affairs and government agencies among others, the committee engages in every component of the military and veterans spectrum, with special attention paid to the well-being of veterans as a substantial component of the regional workforce.

The Energy & Water Committee works to ensure the region’s energy and water supplies remain dependable and cost-effective. The committee does this by reviewing and weighing in on relevant local, state, and federal legislation to ensure San Diego moves towards a more reliable, affordable, and diverse water supply as well as more renewable and cost-competitive energy sources.
