Buckboard Catering Company Provides Pumpkin Pies to Troops Over Thanksgiving
In true holiday spirit, local San Diego business - Buckboard Catering Company - donated homemade pumpkin pies to troops with Joint Task Force Sierra. The nearby Starbuck’s also donated hot coffee making for one sweet deal for the troops that had to work on Thanksgiving Day.
Fadi Shihadeh, general manager of BuckBoard Catering, said that he was happy to help the National Guardsmen, “We enjoy working with the military here in San Diego. This is only a small gesture to show our appreciation for all they do.”
Soldiers and Border Patrol agents were happy to see vehicles pulling up for a visit throughout the day on Thanksgiving. Some enjoyed the pie for breakfast, and others had a mid-day snack, but regardless of the timing, all agreed that the pie hit the spot.
“This was a welcome surprise,” said one of the Soldiers at the Mt. Empire site in the El Cajon sector. “Pumpkin pie, the real kind like this, reminds me of home.”
Shihadeh took over Buckboard Catering in 1999 and business has been booming across the San Diego area. Followers of this delicious treasure are thrilled with his unique creations like lobster macaroni and cheese, and more traditional favorites such as the Santa Maria style barbeque.
Their “picnics to posh” variety has earned them the reputation as being great for all occasions. They are a one-stop-shop for parties, bringing everything from tables and chairs to DJs to kids’ activities.
“We want to make the party as easy as possible for people and take care of all of their needs,” said Shihadeh. “Soon our website will be completely streamlined and automated so that each order can be pulled together and prepared right on the computer.”
So, again, a big thank you to Buckboard Catering, and all of the organizations who have generously donated their time, resources and delicious food to us over the course of our mission!
