The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce strives to advocate for positive business policy at all levels of government. A goal of the Chamber is to have a positive presence in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. and to be vocal on a variety of issues being discussed by the governing bodies at those levels. After thorough review and discussion of legislation and policy matters by the Legislative Committee a recommendation is developed. The Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors uses the information from the committee to assimilate positions on Federal and State issues that potentially impact the business community in San Diego. The Legislative Committee is comprised of a mixture of people from various business sectors and representatives from various elected officials from throughout the county.
The Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has also established a formal legislative guideline structure that affords the Public Policy staff the opportunity to oppose or support legislation involving various issues. The Committee reviews legislative policy matters that are state, federal and local in nature. Any Chamber of Commerce member interested in learning more about the legislative process is encouraged to attend.
