Secretary Oscar Escobedo

Born in Tijuana, Baja California, Oscar Escobedo Carignan is characterized mainly for his career in the private sector as a public accountant, along with several public offices which have given him the opportunity to be a part of both the local government through the Municipality of Tijuana as well as at the State level through the Government of Baja California. Escobedo is Founder of a couple of companies as well as of “Bajamed Group”, an institution responsible for all the steps needed by those who seek medical services from the US and Canada who go to Tijuana in order get health procedures done. Within the private sector, Escobedo has held lead roles in several chambers of commerce, tourism, hospitality industries and economic development including Coparmex, Canaco, Canirac, Cotuco, CDT and CCE. Currently he is the Minister of Tourism for the State of Baja California under the Governor of Baja California, Francisco Vega de Lamadrid, as of November 2013. Under such role, Secretary Escobedo has successfully changed the focus and positioning of the tourism sector of Baja California at a national level. He is a pioneer in Medical Tourism, an increasingly stronger and growing market, being the only State in Mexico to have an official department for this sector.
