San Diego & Baja Norte:
A Binational Tourist Destination
San Diego’s unique location along the U.S.-Mexico border provides the perfect home base for visitors to enjoy the best of San Diego, Tijuana, and Baja Norte. While San Diego has much to offer visitors such as the San Diego Zoo, Sea World and our world famous beaches, Tijuana, Ensenada, and the wine region of the Valle de Guadalupe offer exceptional culinary and cultural experiences to the binational tourist. The combined richness of offerings on both sides of the border and the stark cultural and culinary contrast between San Diego and Baja Norte creates a unique two-nation vacation experience unlike any other in the world.
Our upcoming Cross-Border Business Forum on February 15 will take a close look at San Diego and Baja Norte as a binational tourist destination. Our expert panel will answer some key questions around this topic such as:
- What draws tourists to our region and are they exploring both sides of the border when they visit? Why? Why not?
- How many of the visitors to San Diego cross the border to take advantage of the tourism opportunities in Baja Norte and vice versa?
- What is the combined spending by tourists on both sides of the border and what can we do to increase that through the concept of a “two-nation vacation”?
- What is being done to promote and support cross-border tourism? What are the benefits and what more can we do?
