Through its more than 70 events a year, the Chamber is known for providing its members with unique and memorable opportunities to connect with businesses, community leaders, and elected officials. On August 14, 1945, World War II ended, marking the culminating moment of the greatest national effort in our history. We need to be thankful and remember what it was like to be American on that date when pride was at its highest point.

On the 73rd Anniversary, Sunday, August 12th, 2018, KEEP THE SPIRIT OF ’45 DAY, now a National Day of Remembrance, will be celebrated at our VMBP. Americans in thousands of locations across our USA will observe the historic moment by paying tribute to — and carrying on — the legacy of men and women of the World War II generation.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm MEMORIAL GARDEN: Big Band Music. The public is invited to dance, face painting and clowns for children.
11:00 am – 3:00 pm INSIDE MUSEUM: Where Were You on August 14, 1945? Veterans and Hometown Heroes present their stories to service with younger generations.
12:00 pm MEMORIAL GARDEN: Colors and National Anthem, Invocation by Stu Hedley, Pearl Harbor Survivor
