Tuesday morning, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted to approve President Obama’s nomination of Roberta Jacobson as the next U.S. Ambassador to Mexico. Jacobson currently serves as the Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs and was previously Deputy Assistant Secretary for Canada, Mexico and NAFTA issues.

Jacobson must be approved by the full Senate before taking office in Mexico City.
