Chamber Members Visit Influential Leaders at Annual Sacramento Trip

The Chamber brought its largest delegation to Sacramento for meetings with high-level administration staff and legislative leadership. Approximately 80 business and community leaders attended including seven of the nine San Diego City Council members. Attendees discussed state priorities directly with Senate Pro Tem Kevin de Leon, Assembly Minority Leader Chad Mayes, Secretary of Transportation Brian Kelly, Director of Housing & Community Development Ben Metcalf, and Chair of the Moderate Democrat Caucus Assemblyman Jim Cooper, among others.

The trip kicked off with a welcome luncheon featuring Dan Walters, longtime political columnist at the Sacramento Bee, and ended with legislators from around the state at a reception at the Sutter Club. State Treasurer and gubernatorial candidate John Chiang joined the delegation Wednesday morning as the keynote breakfast speaker. The Chamber also advocated on behalf of Senate Bill 2 (Atkins) to provide a permanent funding source for affordable housing at the Senate Transportation & Housing Committee.
