On May 15, the City of San Diego’s Rules Committee passed an update to the City’s Inclusionary Housing Policy. Similar to the current policy, the new proposal gives builders a choice to incorporate at least 10 percent of the units as affordable housing into their projects or pay an in-lieu fee that will go to future affordable housing projects through the Housing Commission. The passed proposal would drastically increase the in-lieu fee.
