Groundbreaking of SR 11 final segment connecting to future Otay Mesa East Port

The Chamber joined regional leaders for the groundbreaking ceremony of the final segment of State Route 11. SR 11 will connect State Routes 905 and 125 to the future Otay Mesa East Port of Entry. Work is projected to be completed by 2021.

The Otay Mesa East Port of Entry is a binational project which will stimulate significant trade and economic growth for our region by providing secure, reliable, and predictable crossings with the goal of estimated waits no longer than 20 minutes. In addition, the project comprises a commercial vehicle enforcement facility and state-of-the-art Intelligent Transportation Systems technology.

Mexico is the top trade partner for San Diego and California, and as our commercial partnerships continue to grow it is critical that we continue to invest in enhancements to our border infrastructure as they are essential to the growth and development of our binational economy. This new port of entry has been one of the Chamber’s top priorities and we will continue our efforts to advance infrastructure improvements on both sides of the border.
