California’s minimum wage will hit $16 an hour on January 1st, 2024, per a letter from the Department of Finance. The rate adjustment is due to high inflation over the past year. Each year the Finance Director determines if minimum wage should be adjusted for inflation by looking at changes to the consumer price index from the prior year.
