USTR Meets with Canada and Mexico Representatives

U.S. Trade Representative, Katherine Tai, met with Canadian Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade, and Economic Development Mary Ng to emphasize the close economic relationship between U.S. and Canada and the importance of ongoing cooperation ahead of USMCA agreement. Ambassador Tai also met with Mexican Secretary of Economy Raquel Buenrostro to discuss shared priorities on labor issues and highlighted the importance of advancing ongoing conversations on Mexican energy measures and environmental laws. Other priorities included steel and aluminum trade and ensuring competitive access to Mexico’s telecommunication market.  

These meetings were held in advance of the Fourth Meeting of the USMCA Free Trade Commission to continue strengthening the trilateral region’s competitiveness and resilience. All three members agreed to advance the Agreement’s full implementation and ensure that the trilateral economy continues to be a model for competitiveness and growth.
