The Chamber joined Mayor Todd Gloria in welcoming a delegation from Taichung (Taiwan), including Mayor Lu Shiow-Yen and other government officials. Taichung is one of the sixteen cities abroad with a Sister City agreement with San Diego dating back since 1983 and both mayors shared a commitment to strengthening ties between both regions. As Taichung prepares for the largest convention center in Taiwan, the delegation also toured the San Diego Convention Center and shared experiences and best practices in hosting large events and international crowds, with similarities including the size and capacity of convention centers and the tourism and hospitality industries becoming key economic engines for both regions.
