Policy Advisor Evan Strawn represented the Chamber by participating in a virtual presentation for the 2024 National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) Conference. The presentation, titled “Business Leadership Academy Collaboration: Promoting Public Health and Employee Wellness Policies Among Small Ethnic and Rural Businesses in San Diego County”, highlighted the Chamber’s grant partnership with the County of San Diego during 2022 and 2023.  

This grant partnership provided workplace wellness education to small businesses throughout the County and included a mini-grant reimbursement program, where small businesses could be reimbursed for making purchases to support their employees’ health and safety in the workplace. The NACCHO presentation focused on the unique and innovative partnership between a county health agency and a chamber of commerce and an overview of best practices for how this kind of partnership can be replicated across the country.
