IBA Forum: Advancing TJRV Infrastructure

This month’s IBA forum (recording available here) featured a conversation with Baja Secretary of Economy and Innovation, Kurt Honold, who shared an update on the San Antonio de los Buenos Wastewater Treatment Plant in Tijuana. The plant is scheduled to be running in April with other Minute 328 infrastructure projects to be completed by 2027. As the construction phase of the treatment plant is now one hundred percent complete, the operation status is currently at 96.3% completion, including testing to confirm that pumps comply with international regulations for water discharge into the ocean. We also heard from John Beckham, NADBank Managing Director, who shared insight on $150M in financing to support other water infrastructure to deliver and protect public health, preserve the environment, and secure a more prosperous future. Both speakers emphasized the importance for businesses to continue to advocate for the completion of these water infrastructure projects in order to mitigate the transboundary pollution crisis that affects our businesses, tourism, and public health.
