The Chamber’s Health Committee compiled a State Healthcare Priorities Letter to be transmitted to our local State Assembly and Senate delegations as the State Legislature considers bills and budgetary items affecting our regional healthcare industry.
The letter was the product of discussions within the Health Committee, as well as of member engagement with Chamber staff on priority issues. The issues highlighted in the letter received broad, cross-sectoral support from different parts of the healthcare industry, including hospitals, clinics, physician groups, health insurers, and patient advocates.

Specific priorities include:
- Preservation of existing healthcare programs in the State budget
- Opposition to new unfunded mandates on the healthcare industry
- Limiting OHCA to its statutory responsibilities
- Support for California’s healthcare workforce
- Flexibility in the healthcare innovation environment
- Caution with new coverage requirements for health insurers
- Increased availability of lower-cost prescription drugs
Chamber staff will be monitoring the State budget process and legislative session to see how these priorities are reflected as legislation moves forward.
