Chamber sponsored AB 1834 (Patel) was signed into law by Governor Newsom! The Governor signed the bill on June 30th alongside other “early action” bills. The bill will speed up permitting processes for mixed-use developments that are located in mixed-use zones throughout California. We are excited to have sponsored this new state law to help meet two important goals for our state and region: more housing and faster permitting process.
Our co-sponsored bill, AB 2433 (Alvarez) continues to move through the State Legislature and is now in the Senate Appropriations Committee. The bill will make changes and updates to State Density Bonus Law, California’s most successful housing law. We hope to see the bill continue to move and eventually also be signed into law by the Governor.
