The Baja Ha Ha is a two-week cruisers rally that departs from San Diego every October heading south to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Over 3,000 sailboats have participated in the event which celebrated its 25th anniversary on October 29th. The goal is simple: for everyone to arrive to Cabo San Lucas safely while enjoying sailing amongst friends and stopping at Turtle Bay and Bahia Santa Maria to rest.
Sailing boats from all over the U.S., Mexico, and Canada start their trip visiting San Diego prior to departure. This year, more than 170 boats grouped at the starting point in Point Loma where the Harbor Police and Sportfishing Association of California held the starting ceremony. As part of the kick-off event, SAC presented a donation of $10,000 to the Foundation for the Children of the Californias which runs an international hospital for children in Tijuana and where doctors from all over North America donate their services. In addition, USCG Commander Kris Szczechowicz was recognized for his outstanding work and collaboration with the recreational vessel community. As boats prepared for departure, Mariachi Juvenile Azteca celebrated with music.
