Mario Orso assumed his position as the new CEO for SANDAG on June 17. Orso brings with him over 30 years of experience in transportation policy and planning, spending most of his career working for Caltrans. He most recently served as the acting Director of District 12, which covers most of Orange County, for the agency.   

Chamber President and CEO Jerry Sanders recently met with Orso to discuss how the Chamber and SANDAG can work together to promote regional projects and initiatives that connect the entire region, and further that promote cross-border trade and travel. During the meeting, Mario shared his vision to increase collaboration amongst board and regional stakeholders to advance the Regional Plan and improve mobility across the binational region, bringing in additional efforts to enhance the plan including environmental goals, and promoting a sense of ownership to champion projects.

The Chamber looks forward to continued collaboration with Mario and SANDAG.
