Two-Nation Vacation Destination
Tourism is a major economic driver for both San Diego and Baja California. Together, the Cali-Baja region has become known as a two-nation destination hub for tourism where San Diego and Baja can be experienced and enjoyed as one destination together.
In San Diego visitor spending in 2023 topped $14 billion a record-breaking year for the city. Tourism is the third-largest economic diver in the city of San Diego, having a $23 billion economic impact and supporting more than 214,000 direct and indirect jobs.
2023 also marked an important year for Baja California, which received more than 28 million visitors with an economic spillover of $119 billion pesos. The State of Baja has also resumed international flights from Baja California to Phoenix and Beijing, with plans to add a route to Las Vegas in November. As we look ahead to 2025, Baja California will be the first northern Mexican state to host the Tianguis Turistico of Mexico, a premier platform for promoting and trading tourism-related products and services in Mexico.
With the busiest land port of entry located in the Cali-Baja region, receiving over 300 million annual travelers and a one-of-a-kind cross-border bridge serving over 8,000 passengers daily, cross-border connectivity plays a fundamental role in the region’s tourism.
Join us on September 25th for an in-person conversation on why the Cali-Baja region is a two-nation vacation destination and get an insight into events for the upcoming year and the expected economic impacts.
