The Chamber hosted a meeting with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Energy to discuss efforts to advance energy efficiency and sustainable industries. Chamber members had the opportunity to discuss with Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Laura Lochman, on challenges that industries are facing in our binational region and resources needed to ensure sustainable practices and supply for industry and our community. Such challenges include California’s ambitious energy goals, and the importance of bilateral collaborations to ensure trade efficiency while also supporting infrastructure projects that support the power grid and advance sustainable goals.
Secretary Lochman highlighted how the Bureau promotes businesses overseas while also promoting energy security, energy transition, and energy access and address its challenges. Secretary Lochman also addressed the importance of security partnerships to avoid competitiveness and the importance of having some diversification in the energy sector. Next steps include a follow up meeting during our delegation trip to Washington D.C. in April, 2025.
