Buz Schott

Charter Communications

Buz Schott was named Senior Director of Government Affairs at Charter Communications in June 2017.  He is responsible for strategic planning and implementation of government relations, community engagement and communications in Idaho, Hawaii, Arizona and Southern California. Prior to joining Charter Communications, Schott was the Director of Government Affairs for Sempra Energy Renewables.  He coordinated the government and community relations for wind, solar and battery powered energy projects in 21 states. Schott was also the Regional Vice President of Public Affairs for Sempra Energy Utilities, responsible for the strategic direction of local government and community relations for San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Company that had operations in Central and Southern California. Between his two positions at Sempra Energy, Schott was Vice President of Capitol Strategies Group, a leading advocacy firm in Sacramento California.  He represented clients including renewable energy companies, electric utilities, home developers, cellular communications and hotel operators. Schott is a graduate of San Diego State University and resides in San Diego, California.
