Council President Georgette Gomez

Council President Georgette Gómez is the daughter of working class immigrants, who learned at an early age the importance of giving back to the community and helping those less fortunate. A graduate of SDSU, Council President Gómez has dedicated her career and volunteer time to strengthening communities. Council President Gómez assumed office on December 12th, 2016, becoming the first queer Latina to serve on the San Diego City Council. On December 10, 2018, she was elected Council President by a unanimous vote of her colleagues. As Council President, she is committed to creating a local government that is equitable, inclusive, transparent, and accountable.
