Veterans Museum At Balboa Park

Jack Harkins, U.S. Marine Corps Retired, is the Chairman and President of The Veterans Museum in San Diego. His 35-year Marine Corps career included nine years enlisted service in infantry units with two combat tours in Vietnam; commissioned officer service 1975 – 2001, in artillery battalions and in logistics units, included combat duty in Somalia and two years commanding Marine Wing Support Squadron 373. Entering private business upon retirement in May 2001, he worked in facility construction management; completed seven new information technology and communication centers on Marine Corps and Navy Installations in California, Nevada, and Washington. He served in a Marine Corps civilian staff position February 2002 - November 2009, directing Installations and Logistics functions at Headquarters, Commander Marine Corps Air Bases Western Area. Led facilities design and construction and logistics programs and services for five Marine Corps Air Stations; and a land use agreement process for a U.S. Veterans National Cemetery on Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Chair of the United Veterans Council of San Diego County; Founding President of Veterans Week San Diego in 2017; President of San Diego Veterans Day Parade; and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Community Advocacy Board Member.
