Kent Kauss

Sempra Energy Utilities (SDG&E and SoCalGas) | Regional Vice President

In September 2017, Kent Kauss joined San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Company as the Regional Vice President – External Relations. Kent reports to Mitch Mitchell, Vice President of State Government Affairs & External Affairs and will be located in the Sacramento office. Kent brings significant energy-related expertise around state government and state agency policy and strategy. He was most recently the Senior Director and Chief Lobbyist for Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) where he led the State Government Relations functions, including the development and strategy of legislative policy. Prior to working at PG&E, Kent was a director at the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) where he was responsible for the operations of the Office of Governmental Affairs and served as the liaison to the Governor’s Office and state agencies. Kent holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
