Linda Caballero-Sotelo

New Americans Museum, Inc

Linda Caballero Sotelo is Executive Director of New Americans Museum a visual arts & oral histories space whose mission is to celebrate & educate about the contributions of immigrants post WWII into the American narrative. She has over 25 years of professional experience as a senior level executive for national & international projects & organizations. She is fluent in Spanish, & has led initiatives & high performing teams in a variety of corporate, public & non-profit settings. In addition to New Americans Museum, she has led a strategic consulting & marketing firm, Toltec Media Group with local & national clients, and previously held executive roles as President & CEO of San Diego Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Director of Marketing & Corporate Communications for San Diego Workforce Partnership, & Director of Projects overseeing exhibitions logistics, budgets & residencies leading to the US/Mexico public art initiative INSITE ‘97 & again for InSITE2000 where she organized & collaborated in the development of over 80 original public art installations & educational exhibition-related commissions & works spearheading artistic residencies & production teams; while overseeing the development & creation of a variety of new works by established international artists for the acclaimed public art triennial held in the US and Mexico. Linda has been a contributing writer & editor on issues & topics of immigrant integration, race, diversity, arts & culture for various publications. Also as speaker, curator, promoter & producer of large-scale events, festivals & visual arts exhibitions. She is a current Mayoral appointed Commissioner for the City of San Diego Library Board of trustees; board member of the Balboa Park Trust; BOD of SD Media Arts Center, & former Trustee of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad, the California Hispanic Chambers, past President of Nat'l. Latina Business Women Association-SD, & Chairman of Latinas Foundation, a 501c3 women’s leadership, advocacy & education forum. Linda is a graduate of LEAD San Diego, a fellow of Leadership America, & of the US/Mexico Foundation. She has been honored with recognitions throughout her career including NAWBO’s Advocate of the Year, KPBS’ Community Heroes award, Women Who Move the City, SD Magazine’s 50 People to Watch, & featured in the City of Tijuana’s Paseo de la Fama [Walk of Fame]. Linda holds a BA, International Relations [USIU/U.S. Int'l University] & MA, International Business Administration & Economics [Webster-Regents College, UK & London School of Economics]
