Marcela Celorio

Marcela Celorio, is a Mexican career diplomat that has served at the Mexican Embassies in the United States, Israel, Belgium, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Mission to the European Union. She also served as Deputy Consul General at the Consulate General of Mexico in New York. She is an attorney from Escuela Libre de Derecho and holds two Masters Degrees; one in Diplomatic Studies and the other in National Defense and Security. As Consul General of Mexico in San Diego, she has been one of the strongest advocates for the US-Mexico relationship, particularly for the Calibaja region. As a result of identifying the strong interdependence and linkage that exists in the border within the binational community, she coined the role as cross border Consul, putting her effort to support the initiatives that will lead this region into a more competitive and prosperous one. On April 2017, she was elevated to the rank of Ambassador of Mexico, becoming the first woman Ambassador graduated from her Alma Mater.
