For more than 20 years, Michelle Brega has worked at the intersection of the public, private and nonprofit sectors, creating cross-sector partnerships that contribute to economic development. She is currently Senior Director for External Relations for the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority. In this role she oversees all outreach initiatives to the community, partner agencies, the media and other stakeholders. She previously served as Vice President, Community Affairs Manager for U.S. Bank, based in San Francisco, California. In this role, Michelle managed the corporate social responsibility, brand and reputational objectives for the country's fifth largest bank, in the Bay Area. Prior to joining U.S. Bank, Michelle held similar roles for Bank of America in the Bay Area and San Diego markets. She has also consulted for Ford Motor Company, launching the company's joint community engagement efforts with 70 Ford dealerships across Northern California. Michelle began her public affairs career in San Diego at the region's largest public relations firm, with the grand opening of San Diego International Airport Terminal 2 being one of her first assignments. During her time in San Diego, she was involved with major land use projects and campaigns, including the San Diego Convention Center expansion, Petco Park, Downtown San Diego master plan, Balboa Park Transportation Master Plan, and downtown property-based improvement district. She transitioned to financial services when she joined San Diego-based Mission Federal Credit Union. Michelle is originally from Maryland, and earned her bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California San Diego. She has three sons.
