Robin Layton

Educational Enrichment Systems, Inc.

Sacramento Delegation Attendee 2020

Throughout her 36 years as President and CEO, Robin Layton has grown Educational Enrichment Systems, (EES) a nonprofit agency into one of San Diego County’s most respected providers of quality early care and education services. Now in its 41st year, EES remains focused on ensuring that young children are prepared to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. EES offers a research-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum, credentialed teachers, and access to a variety of support services for families. Because the family has the greatest influence on a child’s growth and ability to learn, parent participation plays a significant role in EES’s programs. Robin is a tireless leader for EES and for high quality early education. She expanded EES operations from just 3 schools in 1984 to 20 throughout San Diego County. She has cultivated successful partnerships with the San Marcos and Vista Unified School Districts and enhanced existing services for the 1,100 students EES now serves annually. School district officials enthusiastically endorse EES’s early education programs as necessary to reduce achievement gaps in their elementary schools and communities. Robin actively participates in numerous local and statewide early education initiatives and collaborations. Robin was most recently appointed to California Governor Newsom’s Early Education Policy Council. Appointed by the Rules Committee of the California State Senate, chaired by Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins, Robin will join 27 providers, parents, and other stakeholders to advise the Legislature, Governor, and Superintendent of Public Instruction on statewide early learning and care policy.
