Open exclusively to members of Execs Connect, this bi-monthly networking event connects San Diego’s top business executives, elected officials, and military leaders. Execs Connect focuses on building lasting relationships through quality networking and access to thought-provoking speakers.

Join us for our virtual Execs Connect with Rangapriya (Priya) Kannan, Ph.D. Priya is the chair of the department of innovation & entrepreneurship and the founder-director of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Catalyzer (The CatalyZer) at the University of San Diego School of Business, where she is also a professor of management. Priya will discuss Innovation and Entrepreneurship within organizations – how innovators and entrepreneurs can succeed; and how to effectively support I&E efforts within your organization.

Rangapriya (Priya) Kannan is the chair of the department of innovation & entrepreneurship and the founder director of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Catalyzer (The CatalyZer) at the University of San Diego School of Business, where she is also a professor of management. Priya also serves as a research professor of entrepreneurship at University of Exeter Business School, one of the UK’s leading institutions. In addition, she is an affiliate faculty member at the USD Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies. Priya received her PhD from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. She was also a visiting research fellow at Cambridge Judge Business School during her sabbatical.

Priya’s primary research stream focuses on how entrepreneurs negotiate constraints in their environment by engaging in creative resourcing and reframing to accomplish their innovations. She has papers published in innovation and strategy journals such as the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Organization Studies, Research and Technology Management, & Journal of Business Ethics. Priya has earned several awards recognizing her excellence in research, teaching and for her contributions to institution building, including the prestigious Clarence L. Steber Professorship, a distinguished university award. Priya has also won a Kauffman grant for research on entrepreneurship and several CIBER grants for international research relating to innovation and entrepreneurship.

At USD, Priya teaches strategy and innovation management, entrepreneurship, and sustainable business models to executives, graduates, and undergraduate students. She has developed several new classes, some of which have been featured in media outlets for their innovative pedagogical approaches to entrepreneurship and innovation. To continue to bring real world perspectives into her research and teaching, Priya continues to be affiliated as a senior associate consultant with Management Systems Consulting Corporation, a niche strategy consulting firm with Fortune 100 clients, as well as high potential entrepreneurial firms.
