Beginning October 13, the U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) will begin the initial phase of testing biometric technology for pedestrians entering and exiting the U.S. The new technology is expected to add an additional level of security in order to combat public safety threats.

CBP is prepared to suspend the technology project if major traffic delays occur as a result.
