City of San Diego: Energy Benchmarking Ordinance for Property Owners

The City of San Diego is requiring property owners of commercial, multifamily, and mixed-use properties of more than 50,000 sq. ft. to report their energy usage. The compiled data can be used to help meet the City’s Climate Action Plan. Businesses who are subject to the benchmarking regulations have an annual reporting deadline of June 1st, with the option to request an exemption.

Contact the City’s Sustainability Department if you have questions about the ordinance or to request an exemption. A fact sheet can be found here.
