The Chamber hosted a meeting with business stakeholders from San Diego and Tijuana, building on an MOU signed in 2022 to boost economic development and innovation opportunities for the Cali-Baja region. Stakeholders heard from SANDAG on advancements of Otay East Mesa Port of Entry and next steps of advocacy from the business sector to advance the implementation of the project on the U.S. side and acknowledge efforts south of the border to finish construction by the end of this year. The taskforce also heard from the San Diego Tourism Authority and Secretariat of Tourism for the State of Baja on an update on our region’s tourism industry and promotion efforts, and from the San Diego World Trade Center about their upcoming trade delegation to Singapore.
The Chamber shared an overview of recent efforts to mitigate the Tijuana River Valley pollution crisis and this year’s delegation trip to Mexico City taking place on October 20-23rd at the St. Regis Hotel.
