Call to Action

City to Consider Minimum Wage Increase

This Thursday, February 27, the San Diego City Council’s “Cost of Living Committee” will consider a $25 minimum wage on hotels, event spaces, and janitorial workers.

The Chamber recognizes how severely this could impact our members and San Diego’s ability to compete as a destination city. The Chamber Board will vote to take a formal position on this measure at our Board Meeting this Thursday morning. We will keep you apprised of the result of that decision.

We want to make sure you are aware that this is coming to the Council and give you the information you need to take action.

We are asking for your help when the item comes before the City Council’s Cost of Living Committee on Thursday, February 27, at 9:00 a.m. The Chamber will be there to speak in opposition to this onerous wage mandate, and we invite you to do the same.

Please see below for specifics on where the meeting is taking place, how you can contribute, and suggested talking points.

As Chamber members, we know you are engaged and invested in the critical issues facing our business community. It is important the Council Committee hears from as many voices as possible on Thursday.

To reach the Chamber’s International and Public Affairs Team for talking points or more information, please email publicaffairs@sdchamber.org.
