Efforts in support of Medicaid

Following the Chamber’s delegation trip to Washington D.C., the Chamber created an infographic summarizing the extremely negative impacts of proposed federal cuts to Medicaid based on information from individual hospitals and hospital systems in San Diego and aggregated data from San Diego County community health centers (Health Center Partners, hospital associations, and other advocacy groups). The infographic has been shared with elected officials and the public in efforts to raise awareness and voice concern on detrimental impacts of proposed cuts. This included our local Congressional delegation (Representatives and Senators), and the House Energy and Commerce Committee staff, which has jurisdiction over Medicaid. The Chamber also used the infographic to build awareness for the impact of Medicaid cuts on social media. You can view the post on LinkedIn, Facebook , X, and Instagram. We encourage you to like and share to help spread the word.

San Diego is the 8th largest City and economy across the U.S., with the healthcare industry as one of its economic engines driving global competitiveness. The collected information showed the large financial impact of Medicaid cuts, including loss of revenue for providers, loss of tax revenue for municipalities, and potential cuts to key medical services and facility closures.

Chamber Board Chair Chris Howard also recently joined members of our San Diego Congressional Delegation on a press conference in support of Medicaid funding, highlighting that funding also supports job creation and economic prosperity in our region.
