State Advocacy on USMCA and TJRV

Chamber Vice President of International and Public Affairs Kenia Zamarripa testified in support of USMCA at the Assembly Economic Development, Growth, & Household Impact and Select Committee on California-Mexico Binational Affairs joint hearing last week. Staff have consistently advocated for the agreement and trade policies that deliver economic prosperity for our region, and recent efforts include a series of letters to the U.S. Trade Representative and Mexico’s Ministry of Economy outlining specific provisions and recommendations to facilitate trade further and strengthen integrated supply chains. Priorities include dedicated funding and resources to increase border efficiency through continued investment in infrastructure and technology, proper staffing at ports of entry to maximize operations, increased data sharing and integrated customs processes, funding to advance infrastructure to mitigate transboundary pollution, and trilateral cooperation in the energy and clean tech sectors, among others.

International and Policy Advisor Myriam Mendoza also spoke at the Tijuana River Valley Joint Hearing of Senate Environmental Quality Committee and Assembly Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials in support of actions that mitigate the transboundary pollution crisis which has impacted our community for decades. This issue continues to be a top priority for the Chamber and will continue to be elevated in our upcoming delegation trip to Sacramento in February.
