The Chamber’s sponsored bill (AB 1834, Patel) and co-sponsored bill (AB 2433, Alvarez) are moving forward in the State Legislature!
AB 1834 passed the State Assembly with zero no votes. The bill will speed up approval processes for tentative maps for mixed-use development. This will allow for an average of 9-12 months of saved time for mixed-use projects in our region and across California. These projects provide both much needed housing for our region’s residents and new commercial and retail space for businesses to open and expand. The bill now heads to the State Senate for approval.
AB 2433 passed the Assembly’s Local Government Committee on a unanimous vote last week. The bill makes changes and policy reforms to the State’s Density Bonus Law, an important state law that has produced thousands of homes for Californians and been remarkably successful compared to similar state legislation. AB 2433 now heads to the Assembly Natural Resources Committee for its next hearing.
The Chamber team continues to engage and take positions on other state bills as the legislative year continues in Sacramento. We continue to keep a keen eye on bills that allow cut red tape and allow businesses to grow and expand as well.
