California closed out 2017 adding 52,700 net new jobs in December and the unemployment rate fell to 4.3 percent. California has been steady and not gained jobs for four straight months, after several months of alternating job losses and gains. In San Diego, the unemployment remains unchanged at 3.3 percent in December. The largest gain was in the leisure and hospitality sectors at 1,100 jobs.
