Policy Analyst with the Chamber’s International and Public Affairs Team, Jimena Villasenor, graduated from LEAD San Diego’s Impact program on June 6. Jimena joined the 2024 Impact Cohort for 9 months of valuable learning, analyzing our region’s key drivers, and building lasting connections with an amazing cohort. Jimena’s Leadership Action Team collaborated with the Chicano Federation of San Diego County to develop a marketing and communications plan to advance the organization’s three-year strategic vision. We are always proud when members of our team take on new challenges to grow, expanding their knowledge and skillset. Congrats Jimena!
Justine Murray, Executive Director of Public Affairs, led one of the panel discussions during Impact this year focused on the growing homelessness crisis in our region. She was joined by three panelists from the County of San Diego, The Regional Task Force on Homelessness, and Father Joe’s Villages. The panel discussed how and why our region’s homelessness crisis has grown to such heights in recent years, the various regional and statewide efforts to address it, and how policymakers, community leaders, and businesses can work together to address this issue in the future. Panel conversations like these are a great opportunity for our Chamber team, and issue experts, to dialogue with our region’s up-and-coming leaders to discuss the most pressing issues facing San Diego.
The Chamber’s International and Business Affairs Division of the International and Public Affairs team assisted LEAD in hosting a cross-border IMPACT day, visiting the ITJ campus in Tijuana to discuss regional priorities including strengthening our cross-border economy, mitigating transboundary pollution impacting the Tijuana River Valley, medical tourism, and the Tijuana-San Diego World Design Capital designation. Each topic was presented by industry leaders and moderated by Chamber’s Vice President of International and Public Affairs Kenia Zamarripa.
