SIMNSA Health | Director of Binational Affairs, Public Relations and the SIMNSA Foundation

Carolina Chavez serves as the Director of Binational Affairs, Public Relations and the SIMNSA Foundation at SIMNSA Health Care. She works closely with the local, state, and federal governments on both sides of the border to raise awareness on the needs of the medical sector and to ensure public health in our binational region. This includes leading efforts to advance medical projects and urban development at the Tijuana - San Ysidro border, such as land acquisition and contract negotiations. Her goal is to develop work groups comprised by members of the medical tourism sector in Mexico to create synergy at an international level to explore opportunities for bilateral collaboration with San Diego.
In her role as Director of the SIMNSA Foundation, Carolina helps underprivileged families in vulnerable situations through scholarships, food and clothing donations, medical assistance, and programs that support endangered youth.
As a regional leader, Carolina has played a key role in the organization and logistics of binational projects including the 2011 and 2012 Binational Mayor's Association Summits. Prior to SIMNSA, Carolina served four terms at the City of Tijuana in charge of binational affairs and the Migration Commission, as Binational Affairs Liaison for the Cities of Tecate and Ensenada, and as a reporter for Televisa Tijuana covering border and migration issues.
