GUSTAVO SÁNCHEZ VÁSQUEZ Born in Mexicali 55 years ago. He graduated Law School at UABC and has a Masters in Tax Law at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara. 28 years ago he founded the Legal Company Sanchez, Aguilar, Esquer & Associates, specializing in advising companies on tax and financial matters. Currently this company has offices in the city of Mexicali, Tijuana and La Paz being the most important legal advising company in the north of the country, giving service to the main companies of Baja California, Baja California Sur and Sonora. Member of the Board of the National Chamber of Commerce in Mexicali (CANACO) and currently serves on the Mexican Employer Confederation COPARMEX Mexicali, and member of the Economic Development Council of Mexicali, BC (CDEM). During 2010 and 2011 he was president of the National Association of Corporate Lawyers Section Baja California, an association that brings together more than 120 lawyers in the state of Baja California. EXPERIENCE IN PUBLIC OFFICE: In the first state government leaded by PAN and Governor Ernesto Ruffo, he was Tax prosecutor of the State, also in the first council of PAN led by Eugenio Elorduy from 1995 to 1998, he served as Trustee Attorney taking charge of the municipal financial supervision and public servants performance. Many of the current Municipal Regulations currently in force, were developed by Gustavo Sanchez during his tenure as Municipal Trustee, also was the first to apply drug testing to municipal police. He is Deputy Senator of the Republic to Sen. Victor Hermosillo. Currently a Congressman with leave of absence (as of Feb. 2016) for the XXI Local Legislature of the State of Baja California, Former Chairman of the Political Coordination Board, Leader of the Parliamentary Group for the National Action Party-PAN, President of the Human Rights Commission of the State Congress and Secretary of the Commission for Control of Public Expenditure. Currently Mayor of the City of Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. Serving as head of the XXII City Council. (2016 – 2019 Period) NON PROFIT ASSOCIATION For 12 years a member of the Board of the Children's Home for Boys (CAHOVA) dedicated to the rescue of street children.
