ABOUT OUR HOST
The YMCA of San Diego County (YMCA) is the second-largest YMCA association in the nation serving nearly 400,000 residents and with more than 5,000 employees.
Every day, San Diego experiences an abundance of youth forced to stay on the streets where survival is the priority; without intervention, many of them will never escape this grim reality. The YMCA recognizes that the adversity stemming from or leading to a youth’s homeless experience has a lasting impact on health, relationships, emotional well-being, and ultimately, their economic stability and mobility. Youth are resilient beyond measure, and a focus on relationships with supportive services can help youth meet their fullest potential.
For over 50 years, the YMCA’s Community Support Services has been working to bring an end to youth homelessness. We focus on supporting the resilience of children and families while providing immediate opportunities for youth to get off and stay off the streets. Learn more and join our actions in November for Runaway and Homeless Youth Awareness Month.
