You’ve started meal planning, cooking with scraps, and storing all of your groceries properly. You’ve even attended one of our Save Your Scraps webinars – but you’re still faced with inedible food waste! What can we do with the scraps of food that we don’t eat? Learn about composting these scraps and take home your very own vermicomposting bin at our Compost Your Scraps Workshop!
Join I Love A Clean San Diego for our first in-person workshop of the year, focused on kitchen waste reduction and composting. We’ll cover how to keep organics out of the landfill by shopping smart, storing food properly, and composting your scraps. We’ll also discuss different composting methods, do’s and don’ts for making healthy soil, and how to use your finished compost. The first 25 registrants will be able to create and take home a fully functioning vermicomposting bin (composting with worms)! Please indicate your interest in your registration and limit one vermicomposting bin per household.
This Compost Your Scraps workshop will take place on Saturday, November 6th, from 10am to 12pm at Old Poway Park (14134 Midland Road, Poway, 92064). Our location does have a few picnic tables, but please bring a chair or picnic blanket if you would like to spread out. The farmer’s market will be occurring, so pick up some fresh produce on your way over!
Registration will first open to Poway residents. Please confirm your residency by entering your full address when you select a ticket. Registration will open to the general public on October 12th.
Due to supply restrictions and current health guidelines, we are limited to 40 total participants. If you register but are unable to attend, please email us at education@cleansd.org as soon as possible so we can give your space to another resident.
Per CDC guidelines, masks are strongly encouraged for all attendees whether indoors or outdoors. ILACSD staff will be wearing masks at all ILACSD public events. If you are feeling sick or have come in contact with someone with COVID-19, please do not attend.
