Beyond the Vine: Ensenada’s Growing Economy

Ensenada has made its mark as Mexico’s wine capital. Beyond being the “Napa Valley of Mexico,” Ensenada is a crucial part of Baja’s economic engine.

Ensenada is Mexico’s second-busiest cruise destination and a key commercial, industrial, and fishing hub for all of Baja California and the greater border region as the port sits just 60 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border. It is the first certified green port in Mexico, connecting with 28 countries and 64 ports worldwide.

The city boasts a strong regional supplier and contract-manufacturing network, is home to three world-renowned research centers, and hosts more than 25 universities and tech schools. Ensenada continues to grow through key infrastructure projects, including Punta Colonet, which is expected to be an economic and logistical game-changer for the region and the country helping to alleviate congestion at major ports like Los Angeles and Long Beach.

Go beyond the vine with the Chamber on June 30 to learn more about Ensenada’s growing economy and strategic importance in the region. We are proud to welcome Councilmember Brenda Mendoza from the City of Ensenada and Kennya Vargas, Executive Director of Ensenada EDC for a fireside conversation on what’s next for this exciting and growing city. The program will be followed by a networking reception featuring wine from Ensenada.
