San Diego County department heads recently revealed their spending plans for 2024, providing insight on proposed spending increases that will raise the county budget by 10 percent.
The office that will see the largest budget increase is the Health and Human Services Agency at 13%. This increase in funds will be used to boost mental health care and substance use treatment, fund an expansion of mobile crisis response teams, and dedicate money to preparing for the county’s participation in CARE Court. It would also add nearly 500 staff positions.
Many other offices will see budget increases as well, including Public Safety and the Land Use and Environment Group.
