The State Legislature wrapped up its 2-year Legislative Session earlier this month, and key Chamber priority bills made it to the Governor’s desk, including co-sponsored bill AB 2433 (Alvarez), which would make important changes to California’s Density Bonus Law. Other key bills included two Midway Rising bills authored by Senator Weber Pierson, aimed at providing the project with greater certainty and protecting it from litigation that could further prolong construction. All remain at Governor Newsom’s desk waiting for a signature, ahead of the end-of-month deadline.
On other state advocacy efforts, the Chamber provided public comment at a California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) meeting in support of SDG&E’s Suncrest Loop-In Project located in the southeastern part of the County. The project is designed to improve the resilience and flexibility of the regional power system, helping deliver electricity more efficiently across the area. At another CPUC meeting, the Chamber also spoke in support of SDG&E’s Golden Pacific Powerlink Project. While the project has not been formally brought to the CPUC for consideration, the Chamber spoke on the need for projects that meet the demands of our regional economy as it continues to grow and businesses expand and electrify.
